Held each May, Icebreaker is the annual kick-off to the marching band season! All members are required to attend icebreaker to meet their sections, rehearse the brand new show music, and pay their deposit for the season.
Our fees for the 2026 season are $800 for Hornline, and $850 for Percussion and Color Guard. While the "true cost" per student is much closer to $1,500, our booster organization, the LCHS Band Boosters, work throughout the year raising funds to keep operational costs as low as we can while still offering a high-quality and rewarding experience. We have been able to keep costs well below what the average competitive band charges while still placing in the top 4 at MCBA State Finals for seven consecutive years. The cost of operating an award-winning competitive marching band well exceeds $200,000 for the entire season, and we do everything we can to balance affordability and a high-value educational experience. Band fees cover the FULL season from May through November, including band camp and all competitions.
All members pay a $700 marching band fee for the 2026 season that covers most season expenses. This includes a full week away band camp, instruction, transportation, equipment, operational fees, design, and other program expenses. Each section additional out-of-pocket costs throughout the season are listed below.
